**JOB SUMMARY**

Reporting to the Program Manager, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, the registered nurse is responsible and accountable for the provision of safe, effective, patient focused nursing care to patients and families. In collaboration with the family and other team members, the registered nurse is responsible for ongoing assessment and monitoring of the patient’s health status, identification of patient/family needs and the development of plan

s to meet those needs, the provision of direct patient care and the evaluation of care. The registered nurse will be expected to fulfill all roles in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab (scrub, circulation, control and recovery) which entails wearing lead aprons. The registered nurse also participates in the ongoing professional development of self and others, and in unit and hospital wide quality improvement initiatives. The registered nurse will be expected to fulfill all roles in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab (scrub, circulation, control and recovery).

The registered nurse complies with the Occupational Health and Safety standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- 2 years of recent ICU, CCU or Cardiac Catheterization Lab, required;
- Hemodynamic monitoring and sheath removal experience, required;
- Previous Cardiac Catheterization Lab and Angioplasty experience, preferred;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all patients, staff, physicians, and visitors;
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development;
- Willingness to participate in process improvement;
- Availability to work all shifts as required including on call and call back

**EDUCATION/TRAINING EXPERIENCE**:

- Current Certificate of Registration issued through the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current Basic Rescuer (C) recognized by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario
- ACLS required or obtained within 6 months of date of hire.
- IABP and temporary pacemaker adjustment experience; preferred
- Strong computer and technology skills; an asset
