What You’ll Do:
As an Accounts Payable Intern, you will be helping to complete assigned accounts payable functions for Northland Power Inc. and facilities around the globe as part of the team. Other responsibilities include providing document filing/scanning and data entry support for other members of the Accounts Payable group as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily accounts payable responsibilities include:
- verifying, entering, ensuring appropriate approvals have been received, and ensuring the timely payment of supplier invoices and employee expenses
- supporting month-end and quarter-end close requirements including reconciliation of payable accounts and sub-ledgers as well as bank reconciliations
- preparing accounting entries and filing monthly remittances to the relevant tax authorities.
- Create or review invoice entry to ensure vendor invoices and employee expense reports are properly coded.
- Reconcile invoice coding to supplier invoices to prevent errors and fraud.
- Prepare cheque runs, electronic funds transfer payments and/or wire transfers to ensure invoices are paid when due.
- Set up new vendors and gather vendor banking information.
- Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
- Provide support to the team during peak seasons (typically quarter-ends);

Qualifications and Experience
- Understanding of accounting fundamentals and applicable IFRS standards
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) and strong Excel skills
