**Job Summary**:
The Urban Farm Community Coordinator reports to the Farm Manager, Urban Farm and is responsible for assisting in the management of the Urban Farm community profile providing social outreach, marketing and working within the community to improve local food security. Additionally, the position is responsible for directing and leading volunteers in practicing urban farm principles and is responsible for the recruitment, screening, onboarding, placement, recognition and training of all volunteers. The Community Coordinator will also be responsible for assisting with overall crop production as required. **Please note the nature of the work requires that you be outside for the majority of the time.**

**Your Role**:
Archway’s Community Coordinator with the Urban Farm contributes by:

- Creating and implementing age-appropriate education programs for residents and school children in the Abbotsford/ Mission areas.
- Coordinating family-friendly events and camps throughout the summer (June-August).
- Coordinating and hosting the sales booth at the local Farmer’s Market and other events; a vehicle is required. Mileage compensation is offered.
- Transporting supplies, equipment and products to the events, and facilitates the set up and take down of the tent and table.
- At the Farmer’s Market and other outdoor events, engaging with customers by providing product knowledge, accepting payment (card, cash), and ensuring all sales are documented and accounted for.
- Coordinating with restaurants and community partners in the sales of products from the Urban Farm.
- Representing Archway Urban Farm at community education outdoor events such as Earth Day and Berry Fest.
- In coordination with the Farm Manager, recruiting, screening, interviewing, and selecting volunteers for the Urban Farm program.
- Providing support, leadership, and direction to volunteers in the Urban Farm program using a variety of techniques including coaching, training, and feedback.
- Managing volunteer schedules to ensure adequate help & support for overall crop production is met.
- Working and collaborating with the Crop Production Supervisor for crop production.

**Our Offer**
- Wage: $25 per hour
- A permanent, part-time, seasonal position at 25 to 30 hours per week, 44 weeks of the year. Some weekend work is required. **Note: The majority of this work is outdoors.**:

**Getting an Interview - you will be considered if you have**:

- A high school diploma or GED equivalent OR post-secondary education in Agriculture, Biology or a related field is an asset.
- First aid certification is an asset, or a willingness to be trained.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and clean driving record.
- Experience in a customer service position.
- Experience in program coordination and coordinating community events is preferred.
- Experience working with children is an asset.
- Strong understanding of food safety and safe working procedures with the ability to train volunteers based on those requirements.
- Knowledge and demonstrated commitment to the connection between gardening, health and the environment; knowledge of local food security issues.

**The Job Requires you to have**:

- Strong computer competency, able to use Microsoft Office365, virtual meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams, and CRM systems.
- A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and a satisfactory driver’s record.
- Your own personal vehicle to provide your own transportation to Farmers’ Markets and other outdoor markets and events.
- The ability to transport supplies, equipment, and products in your personal vehicle.
- The ability to do physical labour related to garden maintenance and crop production; the position will include periods of constant motion including walking, repetitive tasks, lifting, and long periods of standing.
- The ability to work outdoors in inclement weather.
- Willingness and flexibility to work weekends, specifically Saturdays is required.
- Up-to-date Tetanus vaccine is strongly recommended.
- A satisfactory criminal record check is a condition of employment.
