Sommelier at a Private Member's Club

We are looking for an experienced Sommelier to assist during the month of December with an opportunity for it to turn into a permanent role.

The Sommelier will be responsible for making recommendations of wine to pair with a particular dishe for Members and their guests in the restaurant and bars of the Club during the lunch and dinner rush as well as for other events. Additionally, the Sommelier will assist with explaining the wine list and help with selections for banquet functions, be able to discuss various aspects of the wine selection including the vintage, where it was made and the type of grapes used, and will also be able to offer advice on spirits, cocktails and beers.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum 3 years food & beverage experience
WSET Level 3, CMS Certification or ISG Diploma
Must have Serving It Right certification or equivalent
Ability to lift/carry 25 kg
Ability to stay on feet for long periods of time
Computer Knowledge (MS Excel, MS Word)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must have a professional appearance and manner, a gracious attitude and the ability to interact with diverse groups, as well as the ability to build strong relationships within the Club and Community
Will be required to maintain a flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
