**Position Title**: Marketing & Communications Officer
- Permanent Full-Time Position

**Position Description**: The Marketing & Communications Officer is responsible for the development and implementation of all Fort William First Nation marketing and communications strategies. This individual will develop goals, strategies, and implementation plans to execute a comprehensive and cohesive marketing campaign for all of Fort William First Nation events. The Marketing & Communications Officer will design enhancement and development programs to promote Fort William First Nation and its services. Some marketing goals include maintaining the brand integrity of Fort William First Nation and ensuring consistent and cohesive messaging that speaks to the Fort William First Nation community at large.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- Initiate research, development, and implementation of new marketing programs, including direct mail, web-based marketing, advertisements, and other initiatives
- Develop and promote branding initiatives consistent with corporate business goals and objectives
- Develop, manage and execute an annual strategic marketing and communications plan for Fort William First Nation to span across all communication media (online and offline) and reach appropriate target audiences, based upon specific performance goal
- Ensure all products, services, and other offerings conform to brand identity; conduct ongoing brand management
- Develop marketing plans within budget requirement
- Evaluate the success of various communication strategies and provide and implement recommendations for improvement
- Proactively provide innovation across all communication that Fort William First Nation uses (offline and online) and provide competitive insight into its communications and branding strategies
- Develop written materials including press releases, Q&A, media standby statements on organizational issues as required
- Develop and manage community events and communications in support of Fort William First Nation’s organizational strategy
- Lead responsibility for all internal communications initiatives
- Serve as senior editor and provide communications content for the organization’s website
- Assist in the development and implementation of Brand PR programs to support organizational promotions
- Analyze potential new products/media to enhance the marketing/communications work of Fort William First Nation
- Understand and interpret how the work in the community at large affects Fort William First Nation and address this knowledge in communication efforts
- Identify and pursue opportunities for collaboration with other organizations on communications efforts
- Develop, manage and produce materials to create a cohesive image and message for print and all communications
- Plan and manage external communications effort for special events
- Attend and prepare for Council meetings as required
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- Post-Secondary education, either a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English or related discipline
- Strong working knowledge of communication principles and practices
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Communications and/or PR agency experience required the handling of corporate communications, original writing and editing and some public relations
- Excellent understanding and familiarity with brand building and brand management
- Direct experience with graphic design, Web page, and other marketing-related software tools
- Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
