Why is this role important?
- The Program Specialist works in a matrix environment within an interdisciplinary team to support the implementation of pan-Canadian assessment and data standards for home care and long-term care sectors. Assessment standards include those developed by interRAI. The Program Specialist plays a key role in planning, monitoring, reporting and consultation activities as part of CIHI’s role supporting jurisdictions as they implement interRAI’s long-term care and home care assessment systems throughout Canada. The Program Specialist integrates health system, clinical and technical knowledge in support of the various implementations.
- What you'll do
- 1. Plans, develops, and delivers education, training and client support for the implementation and use of assessment standards for the home care and long-term care sectors.
- 2. Develops and maintains work plans, project plans, status reports, meeting records, and stakeholder and risk logs to assist with jurisdictional implementations of clinical assessments.
- 3. Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with provincial/territorial ministries of health, health policy organizations, data users, and other key stakeholder groups to ensure the ongoing relevance and quality of the data, outputs, programs and services.
- 4. Conducts literature reviews, environmental scans and stakeholder consultations in support of developing and enhancing CIHI’s products and services related to collection, analysis and reporting on data for the home care and long-term care sectors.
- 5. Contributes to the build of metadata documentation through the collection and dissemination of relevant information surrounding business practices and services in the Specialized Care branch.- 7. Identifies and implements changes to internal processes and resource materials to better support external stakeholders.
- 8. Supports and contributes to other relevant projects, client support, and training delivery, as required. This role may also be involved with work related to the mental health and/or rehabilitation sectors.
- What you'll bring to the table
- Undergraduate degree in a heath science discipline, health administration, or other related discipline.
- Minimum of 3-5 years relevant health system work experience with a particular emphasis on project management, stakeholder engagement, and teamwork, and a proven ability for self-directed workload management and continuous learning.
- Experience supporting standardized clinical assessment implementations and change management in a health care setting considered a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of how a clinical assessment implementation affects relevant business areas including IT, data management, decision support, etc.
- Experience working in a health care environment in roles, such as business analyst, project manager, nursing, OT, PT, etc., is considered a strong asset.
- Familiarity with the use of standardized clinical assessments in a health care environment is considered a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of Canada’s health care systems with knowledge of the long-term care and/or home care sectors considered a strong asset.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills. Excellent collaboration, teamwork and critical thinking skills.
- Highly organized with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of software.
- Ability to meet travel requirements.
- Fluency in English is required, bilingualism is an asset.
