Why is this role important?
- With a strong understanding of the health information sector, the Project Lead is responsible for providing leadership in the design and execution of projects and activities for the Specialized Care Branch. These initiatives are aligned with CIHI’s strategic direction and priorities. Using a project management approach, the Project Lead will be involved in planning resources and timelines, conducting and guiding analyses, creating project and process documentation, developing reports, and communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
- This position reports to the Manager, Specialized Care Development and will involve working closely in a matrix environment with the Leads and Managers across the branch to ensure alignment of project activities with the programs’ operational activities and strategic directions for specialized care information.
- What you'll do
- 1. Works with the Specialized Care leadership team in the execution of projects and process improvement initiatives that support CIHI’s strategic objectives and priorities. These activities will focus on long-term care and home care priorities including the transition of data standards and the integration of data for reporting and outputs.
- 2. Conducts background research and develops briefing notes and project materials, as required. Advises and makes recommendations on how to proceed.
- 3. In collaboration with Specialized Care team leads and other CIHI departments (e.g., Project Management Office and Communications) plans and carry out project activities. Identify resources and establish deadlines and deliverables for project staff. Provides project status updates and change reports to key stakeholders.
- 4. Leads individual projects within a matrix environment with identified staff from applicable program area(s). Supervises, coordinates and monitors work of staff assigned to project, and provides input into performance evaluations of project team members using CIHI’s Performance Management Program tools.
- 5. Manages project risks in collaboration with the Specialized Care Management team. Liaises with internal and external stakeholders on scope, outstanding issues, deliverables and other matters. Where necessary and appropriate, seeks advice and guidance from experts either within or outside the organization. Consults with and keeps the Management team appropriately informed.
- 6. Establishes and maintains relevant professional contacts on behalf of CIHI at the provincial, regional and national levels, and liaises with government, academics, researchers, clinicians, etc. in support of identified projects. Also liaises with CIHI Regional Office staff for this purpose.
- 7. Attends conferences and meetings, writes briefing notes, backgrounders and reports, as required. Prepares and delivers presentations in support of CIHI and its strategic directions and priorities. Develops and produces promotional materials and communication tools, where needed.
- 8. Leads or contributes to other projects and activities as assigned.
- What you'll bring to the table
- Graduate degree or equivalent combination of experience/education in health sciences, social sciences, administration or a similarly relevant field.
- A minimum of three years’ experience managing complex project(s) in a matrix environment, including coaching staff towards developing skills, knowledge, and expertise for successful delivery on projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
- Strong planning, organizing and problem solving skills, with the ability to man
