Why is this role important?
- Reporting to the Manager, the Team Lead works within an interdisciplinary team providing leadership in the planning and execution of branch initiatives and deliverables. The Team Lead is primarily responsible for coordinating the development, implementation, and enhancement of information services, using the Specialized Care databases (CCRS, HCRS, HMHDB, IRRS, OMHRS and NRS), in response to customized, ad hoc, and standard requests for data from both external and internal clients. They are responsible for ensuring that all external releases of data are timely and in accordance and compliance with CIHI’s Privacy and Confidentiality Policy. The Team Lead oversees the monitoring and management of data requests, including quality, resources, timelines and costs. They will also support other activities associated with data quality and analytical products in alignment with corporate priorities.
- What you'll do
- 1. In collaboration with the other branch teams, provides leadership in the planning and execution of operational deliverables and branch priorities.
- 2. Leads and coaches staff by providing clear direction; effectively delegating work; monitoring performance; and balancing work assignment while addressing department, branch and corporate priorities.
- 3. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of Specialized Care’s data request program, including timely response to client requests, definition of tasks and milestones, resource planning, overall scheduling of data requests, issue resolution and reporting to CIHI’s Finance Department.
- 4. Ensures that stakeholder requests are effectively prioritized for timely delivery of products and services in alignment with corporate standards.
- 5. Provides analytical guidance to Analysts on methodological approaches for more complex requests.
- 6. Provides jurisdictional support in collaboration with the Client Affairs Manager, and the Specialized Care Standards and Engagement department on data use and understanding. Participates in advisory groups and/or jurisdictional working groups as required.
- 7. Develops and implements work plans and program area budgets, providing regular progress updates to the Manager. Participates in the development and monitoring of the operational plan and budget.
- 8. Contributes to the promotion of CIHI products and services through participation on external committees, presentations and/or attendance at conferences and other activities, as required.
- 9. Monitors current practices in the field of health services research and maintains knowledge of other data sources within and external to CIHI that shed light on the home care, long-term care, mental health and rehabilitation sectors.
- What you'll bring to the table
- Undergraduate degree in health sciences, health information, administration, statistics/mathematics or other relevant field.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in a health or business related field
- One to three years of supervisory experience
- Experience in the production of information products for clinical, analytical and/or policy audiences
- Knowledge of database systems, data submission processes, and data management best practices.
- Knowledge of data analysis techniques and statistical methods.
- Conceptual knowledge of health services and an understanding of Canada's health systems, and current issues and relevant public policies related to health information.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, presentation and facilitation skills.
