**Role**

The Marketing Geography Leader oversees management of the marketing and proposal coordination team in Arup’s Toronto office to align work winning to strategy, deliver a best-in-class winning work process and manage local go-to-market activities.

The Geography Leader plays three critical roles within this process: They work strategically with the geography’s leadership team during the entire marketing and capture lifecycle, from initial research/data gathering, pursuit strategy development, overseeing tracking of data and activities in CRM system, through to completion of submission, reporting, and leading training and knowledge-sharing workshops and pursuit meetings.

In addition, the leader works closely with leadership teams to support local go-to-market activities, including providing support to grow Arup’s business network through prioritized clients and industry activities, to civic and community engagements and sponsorships, as well as industry and in-house event management activities.

They also direct the day-to-day activities of the team, from coaching and mentorship, resource management and providing guidance on marketing and winning work best practices, through to identification of learning and development paths and supporting individuals’ career progression, aspirations and goals.

This is a highly networked role that requires an ability to build trust at all levels of the firm, influence and direct strategy, work under pressure, synthesize and make recommendations on multiple points of view, and respond to challenging deadlines.

**Experience**

This person will be passionate about managing high-functioning, successful proposal team in a fast-paced environment, and in guiding skills development and career paths for team members. In addition, experience with industry events, professional associations and business sponsorship is of high importance and knowledge of the local market and a strong active business network is expected.

**Core Responsibilities**
- Manages and supervises a large team of marketing and proposal coordinators overseeing the delivery of high-quality, professionally produced proposals in line with the firm’s market strategy and the geography’s winning work strategy
- Participates in developing the business plan of the geography and is responsible for implementing the local marketing plan component of the strategy.
- Builds a positive and trusting relationships with leaders both internal and external to Arup to assist in the development and direction of go-to-market / influence strategies
- Collaborates and partners with leaders and peers including other Marketing, Winning Work, Communications and Business Development to deliver holistic go to market programs.
- Uses CRM systems and knowledge management tools to provide analysis of trends and reports to geography leadership on winning work and go-to-market activities on an on-going basis, and for yearly operational planning activities
- Trains and coaches professional practitioners and proposal teams in strategy development, persuasive writing, and go-to-market and proposal best practices to ensure that Arup resources are being used efficiently and to best effect

**Qualifications**
**and Skills**
- A bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years’ prior experience in professional services marketing and business development, with strong preference for the A/E/C industry
- Experience leading and coaching teams and supervising direct reports
- Excellent written and verbal English language skills
- Strong ability to develop and maintain personal relationships with all levels of staff and partners
- Strong time management / prioritization skills, with excellent attention to detail
- Self-starter, skilled in creative problem solving, identifying opportunities for improvements, implementing, and executing initiatives
- Excellent public speaking skills and ability to create and deliver workshops
- Proficiency with proposal design and automation software, CRM systems, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office suite.
- CPSM, Shipley, PMP or other relevant industry certification strongly preferred
