Northern Welding Supplies Ltd. (NWS) is Edmonton’s local supplier of welding supplies, industrial gases, tool repairs and much more. Our small team of 5 employees each play a major role in achieving this goal. From the taking of orders, delivering products, making sales calls and various administrative and accounting functions, we all strive to serve our customers.

**Job Summary**:
The Accounting clerk at NWS performs various daily and monthly accounting and office administrative duties. These responsibilities include: Accounts Receivable and Payables entry, the posting of customer payments and deposits, expense and credit card processing, as well as customer statement preparations and follow-up, all leading to month-end bank reconciliations. The Accounting clerk will also assist with front counter and telephone customer service, periodic inventory and cylinder cycle counts and over all office administrative tasks. This position is designed to grow as the organization grows. Additional duties and responsibilities can and will develop over time.

- 3 - 5 years of hands-on office experience in A/R, A/P, clerical accounting, and a general knowledge of inventory management.

**Assets**:

- 2 Year Business Diploma or Equivalent.
- Experience using QuickBooks Desktop software, Microsoft Office, Trendex and Barcoding systems.
- Participated in the Conversion of a Computer System.
- Knowledge of the Welding industry.

**Position Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Accounts Receivable duties include, but not limited to**:

- Daily Verification and Reconciling of Debit Machine Sales to Bank Transactions.
- Entry of Customer Payments into Computer System.
- Preparing Deposit summaries and taking Deposits to Bank (vehicle is required).
- Responding to Customer inquires regarding payments and statements.
- Processing Customer credit cards for monthly pre-authorized rental transactions.
- Preparing and sending month-end customer statements.
- Monthly Bank Reconciliations.
- Month-end filing of paperwork.

**Accounts Payable duties include, but not limited to**:

- Verification and Matching of PO’s to Vendor Invoices.
- Entry of Vendor Invoices into Computer System.
- Updating Item Costs and information as needed in conjunction with the Sales Team.
- Preparing Vendor Payment Summaries.
- Entry of Vendor Payments (EFT’s, Cheques, Credit Cards).
- Responding to Customer inquires regarding payments and statements.
- Monthly Bank and Credit Card Reconciliations.
- Month-end filing of paperwork.

**Inventory Management duties include, but not limited to**:

- Inventory Cycle Counts and System Updates (currently using QuickBooks).
- Cylinder Tracking and System Updates (future Trendex/GasTrend barcoding system to be implemented).
- Learn and Develop Inventory Systems to assist managers in decision making.

**Customer Service duties include, but not limited to**:

- Front Counter service - customer questions, order taking, order preparations and invoice and payment processing.
- Learning of showroom sales products and welding equipment - develop a general knowledge of welding industry customer needs.
