Reporting to the Director, Economic Development Services, or designate, the Economic Development Officer works directly with business clients on an individual or sector basis to establish, effectively operate, grow and expand their business within the City. Key Responsibilities include:

- Providing Client Support/Advisory Services including providing business retention and expansion advisory services; taking an active role in problem solving with agencies and other levels of government; conducting and facilitating meetings and executive interviews
- Providing Investment Services including developing business cases, expansion strategies and investment packages for clients; serving as a primary point of contact for ICI investment and responding to and following up upon investment inquiries; participating in a range of internal and external liaison committees; developing and coordinating economic development related events
- Coordinating communication activities including preparing briefing materials, presentations and reports; preparing content for marketing and communications purpose; utilizing social media to promote a positive business climate and growth opportunities

**Requirements**:

- Knowledge and skills normally associated with completion of a University degree in the areas of Economic Development, Urban Planning, and/or Business Administration plus five (5) years of direct economic development experience, preferably in a municipal setting
- Advanced knowledge of the development approval process and the attributes and qualities of the local economic base, economic sectors and ICI real estate market
- Experienced in project and program development and implementation.
- Strong research, analysis and reporting experience
- Well-developed communication (verbal and written), group facilitation and presentation skills
- Highly developed coordination skills and experienced in organizing and delivering workshop, seminars and events
- Advanced understanding of internal municipal policies programs and practices
