**About the role**:
This is an exciting position that requires strong leadership and a commitment to building secure, resilient communities. Carruthers Enhanced Supportive Housing Program is comprised of 36 apartments for men and women experiencing chronic homelessness. The program offers semi-independent housing and assistance to adults over the age of 18. The John Howard Society of Ottawa manages the site with support from Ottawa Inner City Health and the support of other community partners.

As a Caseworker, it will be your responsibility to build a sense of inclusion, safety, and belonging among residents while assisting the team with the implementation of care plans, recreational activities, daily programming, and other engagement opportunities. This position will allow you to build a house that promotes dignity, inclusivity, and self-actualization as part of the 36-unit supportive housing program's overall operations.

**Responsibilities**:
**Clinical/Casework Responsibilities**
- Complete standardized assessments (e.g., SPDAT) to evaluate the resident’s need areas, and to develop and implement an intervention plan to address those areas of need.
- Work with a client-focused, case management approach to foster housing stability
- Understand individuals that struggle with addictions, aggression, criminality, physical and mental health issues
- Competency using various data collection and case management software
- Establish achievable, time specific goals with the client, and identify intermediate targets for change
- Provide structured individual counselling with clients on caseload a minimum of once per week in their apartments as per Housing First best practices
- Maintain knowledge of and assist clients with referrals to appropriate community service agencies
- Prepare and attend all clinical supervision sessions as required
- Maintain professional development through participation in relevant training, participation in supervision and through counselor development plans

**Program/Building Responsibilities**
- Intervene and provide support to client crises and basic needs
- Adhere to all security and/or safety protocols associated with Caruthers Enhanced Supportive Housing
- Attend staff meetings as required
- Facilitate excellent collaborative relationships with program colleagues and provide coverage when required
- Assist in maintaining a positive environment for clients and colleagues
- Actively communicate with SW to support client and building safety
- Participate in the residence on-call rotation, adhering to the relevant policy and procedures
- Perform other duties as may be occasionally requested

**Report Writing/ Administrative**
- Maintain client master files by affixing assessment and intervention plan, discharge reports, statistical forms, and any relevant internal or external documentation
- Ensure client file notes are maintained on the client information management system
- Produce additional written reports and records as required
- Produce all documentation associated with program research and evaluation within deadlines
- University Degree/College Diploma in a Social Services program
- Minimum two (2) years working with homeless population in a case management role
- Experience working in a Harm Reduction environment
- Experiences working as part of an Interdisciplinary team
- Experience working with a client-focused, case management approach to faster housing stability
- Understanding of and experience working with clients that struggle with behavioural issues
