**Position Summary**

Reporting to the Team Lead, the Program Coordinator supports his/her identified programming cluster by performing administrative duties related to the planning, directing, and coordinating of program-specific activities. Within the team, the Program Coordinator works with other Program Coordinators and the unit’s Program Assistants in order to achieve unit and operational goals.

This position functions as part of a cohesive, high-performing programming cluster and will have frequent consultations with the Team Lead, team members, peers, experts, and stakeholders to ensure that client, student, corporate and unit-related issues are understood and incorporated into program, course planning and administration.

For continued success in this role, the incumbent will have a strong business sense with good problem-solving skills, be resourceful and take initiative.

**Duties**
- Initiates and coordinates curriculum planning and development by researching and identifying areas of expansion and change in existing curricula; communicates frequently with instructional staff and students regarding polices and procedures associated with courses, programs and curricula; assists in building of cost-effective programs within the unit
- Oversees all aspects of course administration including scheduling courses, selection and the contracting of part-time, limited term instructional staff; recruits and orients instructional staff
- Initiates and coordinates surveys of the competition and the market to identify opportunities for the program; works with the Team Lead to develop the unit strategic plan and the multi-year business plans with specific contributions in financial and resource management areas
- Advises students, staff, and the public about the University and Faculty policies and procedures regarding issues such as admission, registration, graduation, course withdrawals, academic standing, grades, deferred exams, etc.
- Provides tactical input into the annual marketing plan through collaboration with Team Lead for the programming cluster and is accountable for pre-defined expenditures for marketing purposes
- Prepares budget information and proposals on assigned programs, course offerings and project initiatives; assists with the preparation of the unit annual budget submission; oversees contracting of course related personnel including instructors
- Prepares reports; develops and implements communication strategies; provides leadership in the development and implementation of community programs through liaising with local organizations and groups; develops working committees to advise on programs and curricula
- Provides communication content for program events, program guides, courses and websites; contributes to the creation/message of newsletters and advertisements in collaboration with the Faculty's marketing team
- Works with the Team Lead, other Program Coordinators and Program Assistants in the unit to develop multi-year business plans; administers the awarding of scholarships; prepares and implements general administrative policies and procedures
- Provides leadership to instructional and support staff to develop and improve course materials and implement major policy changes; ensures adherence to University, Faculty and unit policies
- Represents the unit and faculty at various events and trade shows
