**Position Summary**:
The Indigenous Training Coach Facilitator is possible through a Community Services Recovery Grant with the Canadian Red Cross Society with funds provided by the Government of Canada and is funded through June 30, 2024. This reports to the Training Coordinator and is primarily responsible to engage with Indigenous partners across the province to support a greater connection with AHVNA, as well as partner in organizing training and events that will support member agencies to better meet the needs of Indigenous families. This position will work with the training team to support the planning, development and delivery of training, workshops, information sessions and materials for programming centered on early childhood development, home visitation, and parenting skills in providing an Indigenous lens. This position works with all staff, committees, members, and community stakeholders.

**Work Responsibilities**:
**Liaison with Indigenous Serving Agencies**
- With other AHVNA team members, connect with agencies throughout Alberta, to determine strengths, resources and training needs, as well as identify key people who may be interested in being more involved with AHVNA initiatives
- This will involve travel within Alberta
- Work towards re-establishing of an Indigenous Working group to advise and support AHVNA training and events
- Collaborate on organizing Symposium activities that engage Indigenous serving agencies
- Support a committee review of the AHVNA Family Violence Protocol and associated training, using an Indigenous lens

**Facilitation**
- Incorporate culturally appropriate approaches to training that are relevant to Indigenous communities’ needs
- Use diverse facilitation methods to actively engage learners and encourage participation
- Lead learning groups virtually and in person
- Provide basic technology support to learners when using online training platforms

**Programming Support**
- Design and edit training programs to incorporate culturally appropriate practices of the indigenous culture and the needs of the community
- Ensure programs meet industry and grant requirements
- Confer with training program team to coordinate training activities and execution
- Assist and support program team and contractors with connecting to virtual training
- Communicate training program ideas and information effectively by sharing information with colleagues
- Assist in the evaluation of training programming by engaging with the evaluator
- Develop program resources and materials with an Indigenous focus

**Other**:

- Collaborate to develop reporting for both membership and funders around key activities/findings
- Participate in special projects and tasks as they are assigned

**Qualifications**:

- Knowledgeable in Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Being
- Completion of post-secondary education in a certificate, diploma or degree program in Indigenous studies, Early Childhood, Human Ecology or related field
- 3+ years’ progressively responsible experience in an early childhood development or home visitation field in programming and/or group facilitation for adult learners’ role
- A combination of education and/or experience will be considered
- Working knowledge of the social, economic, cultural, and political environment of Alberta indigenous communities
- Ability to communicate verbally in an Indigenous language is considered an asset
- Experience with the services and systems available in the field of home visitation/family support for marginalized families using a strength-based focus and strong emphasis on parent child interaction
- Experience facilitating online/in person training courses and public speaking
- Experience in organizing online and in person events and training is an asset
- Familiarity with any of the following is an asset:
