The Ontario Native Women’s Association (ONWA) is a not for profit organization that empowers and supports Indigenous women and their families in the province of Ontario. ONWA encourages the participation of Indigenous women in the development of Federal, Provincial, Municipal/Local government policies that impact their lives and ensure issues affecting Indigenous women and their families are heard at key government tables.

**SCOPE**:
The **Human Resources Advisor** is responsible for supporting and guiding internal and external stakeholders in all areas related to Human Resources. This includes recruitment and selection, employee relations, training and development, compensation and benefits, organizational development and occupational health and safety. The position acts as a liaison between the Human Resource Manager, Manager’s, Directors and employees ensuring smooth communication and prompt resolution of all queries. As a key contributor to the human resources team, they will work closely with the applicant tracking system, the human resources information system (BambooHR), survey planet and other soft wares used. The Human Resources Advisor is accountable for the provision of accurate and timely human resource management advise and consultancy services to all stakeholders and will lead different initiatives and projects within the department. They are a key contributor to the team and will support the organization in the Human Resources Manager's absence.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Post-secondary Business Administration-Human Resources Degree/Diploma/Certificate along with 3 to 5 years of hands on human resource working experience preferably in not for profit
- 3-5 years of experience working in a not for profit organization and preferably with Indigenous peoples
- Extensive knowledge of employee relations, training and development, occupational health and safety, performance management, recruitment and selection, current legislation from varying bodies, as it relates to employment.
- Must be adept at problem-solving, including being able to proactively identify issues and provide resolutions in a timely manner while keeping all matters confidential.
- Effectively read and interpret information, present numerical data in a resourceful manner, and skillfully gather and analyze information.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to communicate clearly, both written and orally, with employees, within the human resource department, management team and in group presentations and meetings.
- Excellent time management skills with demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and effectively handle changing priorities.
- Excellent organizational skills coupled with the ability to be accurate, thorough and able to monitor work for quality.
- Excellent computer skills including general knowledge of HRIS, data entry, spreadsheets, Microsoft Office and Office 365
