Start date in mid-September 2024. Work will be completed on a part-time basis. The project includes 60 days of full-time work (420 hours). Exact work hours are to be determined during the hiring process, but weekly hours can be flexible. All work must be completed by March 31, 2024.

Wage: $20.00 / hour

All work will take place at the Manitoba Sport Hall of Fame & Museum, 145 Pacific Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Project Description

The Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame & Museum seeks an employee to add information about entities, people, organizations, places, and historical events to the Musetoba collections management database, linking information about athletes, builders, teams, objects, places, and events together and adding richness to the documentation of Manitoba’s sport heritage.

The project also includes the development of social media posts, blog posts, and uploading images to the Hall of Fame website.

Physical demands of the job include sitting at a desk for long periods, using a computer/laptop, and operating a digital camera. The successful candidate must be able to move collections items safely from storage shelving to workspaces, including lifting items up to 20 lbs. Access to collections may include using a ladder.

The Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame and Museum is a leader in sport heritage in Manitoba. With a collection of 22,000+ items, it documents, preserves, presents, and showcases Manitoba’s sport history. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Hall of Fame Curator, Andrea Reichert.

Education
  • Successful candidates will likely be a post-secondary student or graduate in museum studies, history, fine art, archival studies, creative communication, or a related field
  • Those from other fields or with comparable skills will also be considered.
Desired Skills
  • Previous museum collections experience, including databases, storage, and organization
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills for liaising with all individuals involved with the project
  • Experience developing online content is an asset
  • Photography experience with a DSLR camera and image editing experience is an asset

  • Interest in sport heritage

  • Interested in data management and able to work on detail-oriented tasks
