Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person at North Campus, Edmonton.

Working for the Department

The Enrolment Management Centre of Expertise within the Office of the Registrar supports the enrolment management needs of the University of Alberta. This position will specifically support the Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies (GPS) in the recruitment of graduate students to the university. GPS is home to more than 8,400 graduate students in over 500 graduate programs and 170+ doctoral programs in 300 research areas.

Are you a knowledgeable, collaborative and strategy-focused enrolment management (EM) professional who loves to work in a dynamic and challenging environment? A skilled advisor with a deep knowledge of the university who is dedicated to the pursuit of strategic institutional enrolment management?

Reporting to the Associate Registrar, Enrolment Management, within the Office of the Registrar (RO) and a dotted-line report to Faculty General Manager, Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies (GPS), the Enrolment Management Service Partner-Graduate (EMSP) provides end-to-end support for enrolment management for graduate programs at the University of Alberta, including student intake management and strategic enrolment planning. This position will work closely with staff departments, faculties, colleges, and other university-wide units in this work.

EMSPs are responsible for the delivery of strategic, data-driven, short- and long-term enrolment planning for programs and faculties, and for the execution of those plans. The EMSPs are service-minded professionals who connect academic leaders within their portfolios to the resources and services that support enrolment management throughout the student enrolment management cycle.

Drawing on your proven experience in enrolment management, you will act as a strategic professional advisor to the Vice-Provost and Dean of the Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral (GPS) Studies, College Dean(s), Faculty Deans, Faculty Associate Deans Graduate, and other senior leaders within your portfolio. You will collaborate with your fellow EMSPs, GPS, and Office of the Registrar units, faculties, and other university-wide departments to deliver on the goals of program, faculty, college, and institutional enrolment management plans. You will drive forward-thinking change by advocating for continuous improvement of EM policy and practice.

Duties

  • Provide end-to-end support for student intake management for all graduate programs in the context of institutional enrolment planning.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with academic leaders within your portfolio, acting as a first point of contact on all strategic enrolment matters.
  • Deliver senior-level, data-driven professional advice to academic and administrative leaders on the development and execution of short- and long-term enrolment plans for graduate programs.
  • Provide input into University, college, faculty, and program strategic graduate enrolment planning processes that is informed by a knowledge of the programs and disciplines within the College(s), and of the local, Canadian and global context.
  • Advise academic leaders on key factors impacting graduate enrolment management, including identifying enrolment management risks and advising on strategies to manage these risks.
  • Maintain high levels of trust by providing data-informed advice and accountability for the execution of enrolment plans and objectives.
  • Actively participate in graduate leadership teams to proactively identify EM concerns, needs, challenges and opportunities, and work closely with your colleagues in the EM centre of expertise to deliver effective solutions.
  • Develop and advocate for consistent university-wide EM practices that are informed by graduate programs and academic structures.
  • Analyze EM priorities and advocate to ensure EM services are optimized to support the college, faculty, and institutional goals.
  • Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with your fellow EMSPs and colleagues within the RO, GPS, faculties, and other university-wide units to ensure you are able to advocate for the faculties and deliver solutions necessary to meet their enrolment goals.
  • Actively participate in the development of an effective institution-wide enrolment management community that fosters best practices and emphasizes positive student and applicant experiences.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum five years of experience of directly contributing to strategic decision-making related to post-secondary enrolment management, academic program delivery and/or student services.
  • Familiarity with graduate programs and post-secondary education systems in Canada.
  • Ability to interpret enrolment data and trends to inform advice and decisions
  • Sound judgment, proven methods and techniques for conflict resolution, facilitation, and change management.
  • Ability to develop and maintain high levels of trust and credibility, act with integrity and tact, and demonstrate respect and empathy.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, assess consequences of proposed actions, choose the most appropriate solution, and implement successfully.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment, manage diversity, establish, and maintain effective working relationships with EM service partners, colleagues and clients.
  • A written and verbal communication style that influences and inspires change and builds trust-based relationships.
  • The capacity and flexibility to excel within a challenging and fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Understanding of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Indigenization and the role EDI&I plays within the practice of enrolment management.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience using systems such as Slate, Campus Solutions and/or Tableau is considered an asset.
