We are looking for a Name Reservation Officer to help grow our business and contribute to our future.  

The Name Reservation Officer will provide written and verbal instructions and information to clients, legal representatives, paralegals, accountants, jurisdictional counterparts, and other government ministries or agencies, pertaining to the reasons for the return or rejection of documents, interpretation of legislation and policies and procedures. Reporting to Operations Manager, Corporate Registry, other highlights include:

  • Provides clear, competent answers and information to customers of the Corporate Registry to assist them in registration under various legislation and regulation, including The Business Names Registration Act, The Professional Corporations Act, The Partnership Act, and other various Acts.
  • Ensures documentation is filed in compliance with various pieces of legislation and associated regulations.
  • Has the final authority to register, return, or reject applications submitted to the Corporate Registry for reservation of a business name.
  • Completes investigation, analysis, and determines appropriate action to achieve alignment of extra-provincial entity information with the home jurisdiction.
  • Researches, analyzes, and determines the appropriate action to ensure ongoing entity compliance with the various pieces of legislation and associated regulations.
  • Research errors contained in the database, examines the source of the error, and determines the appropriate action to rectify the error, including making corrections to information contained in the Registry.
  • Enters, retrieves, and updates data in the Corporate Register database.
  • Ability to operate with obscurity.

What you’ll need:

  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically obtained through completing courses in business administration, office administration or other applicable post-secondary courses. A high school diploma is required at minimum, supplemented with three (3) years’ experience in an office environment and customer support.
  • Proven ability and experience accurately referencing process, policy, legislation, and regulations, including the ability to interpret, reference, understand, apply, and clearly explain their application accurately and appropriately.
  • General understanding of the various business entity types and their attributes that are contained within the Corporate Registry.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, MS Teams.
  • Familiarity and comfort working in a technology driven office environment.
  • Proven track record of strong customer service and support to internal and external customers.
