Our very large and complex client is seeking a seasoned Human Resources Director to spearhead their HR operations, with a significant emphasis on labor relations and union negotiations. Reporting to the CEO, this role will play a strategic part in maintaining and enhancing all HR functions, including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee engagement. The HR Director will be instrumental in negotiating collective agreements and fostering a collaborative and compliant workplace environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Labor Relations & Union Negotiations: Lead and oversee all labor relations activities, including union negotiations, managing collective bargaining agreements, and addressing complex labor issues.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the HR team, promoting a culture of professional growth and development within the department.
  • Strategic HR Planning: Develop and communicate the HR Strategic Plan, aligning departmental goals with organizational objectives.
  • Employee Relations: Establish strong partnerships with site managers and employees to support a positive workplace environment, drive engagement, and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Oversee the recruitment strategy, collaborating with managers to create effective hiring plans and ensuring new employees are seamlessly integrated.
  • Policy & Compliance: Manage and roll out HR policies, ensuring compliance with employment laws and alignment with company values.
  • Compensation & Benefits: Design and implement a competitive compensation and benefits structure, including overseeing benefits administration and developing retention strategies.
  • HR Program Development: Continuously enhance existing HR programs and lead initiatives in areas like talent management, employee engagement, and educational support.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; HR certification (e.g., CPHR) is preferred.
  • Experience: At least 7-10 years of HR experience, including 2 years in a managerial role, with substantial expertise in labor relations and union negotiations.
  • Skills: In-depth knowledge of employment laws, experience with collective bargaining, and a strong foundation in HR functions and compliance.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team, with strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster positive relationships across all levels.
  • Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with HR systems and software.
