Job Summary


The York Region District School Board seeks a strategic and forward-thinking Human Resources Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Human Resources Director, this role plays a key part in overseeing and managing HR and labor relations functions across the district to ensure alignment with our core values and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and support to managers and administrators related to the interpretation and administration of collective agreements and other HR processes.
  • Manage the grievance process, maintain regular communication with union representatives, and conduct investigations from discovery through to report and recommendations.
  • Assist with collective bargaining, provide advice and guidance on staffing and recruitment strategies, and support the job evaluation process.
  • Participate in and lead assigned district and joint committees, and deliver various training and development modules to support employees and managers with skills enhancement.


Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record for superior organizational, management, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills that promote effective working relationships. A thorough understanding of HR standards & best practices, collective agreement interpretation, grievance management, investigations, human rights, and other employment legislation is required. A degree in Human Resources Management or related field, and 7 years of progressive experience in human resources and labor relations, including work in a complex unionized environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation are necessary. Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office, criminal record check clearance, a valid BC driver's license, and reliable transportation are also required.
