VP of Operations – Finance, Development and Construction

About our client:
Our client is a Vancouver based development, investment and construction company. We are looking for a VP of Operations to join their team with medium term succession to CEO in mind. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for an individual to build upon an already well-established organization. The successful incumbent will work closely with the CEO to create and realize an ambitious vision for their next chapter of growth and success.
We are looking for a vibrant, emotionally intelligent and savvy manager who has executive management experience in the financing, development and construction of large multi-unit residential projects. Ideally this candidate will have an MBA and experience dealing with challenges that are typical of the industry. They will add value and have the proven ability to maintain lasting, positive relationships with the full spectrum of stakeholders in successful projects.
The VP of Operations, in conjunction with the CEO, will be responsible and accountable for the operation and management of the company. This individual will work closely with the CEO to set strategic direction and priorities, work to secure new funding from appropriate investment channels, and ensure development projects are on track.
Our client will pay a base salary in the $150-200k+ range plus incentive that could result in total OTE between $400-500k per annum, with further upside available based on company achievements. This is a customized package for a customized position. We are open to candidates outside of Vancouver with strong experience in land development and investment.
Responsibilities:
- Work to secure appropriate funding for multimillion dollar real estate projects from current long term investment partners while developing new avenues for funding.
- Liaise with lenders and private investors about the company’s profile, strengths and value proposition.
- Work closely with team members to ensure development applications are submitted correctly to the various municipalities and approved in a timely manner.
- Ensure the company is well positioned for development applications to be approved.
- Monitor the progress of construction projects.
- Assist the CEO in setting strategic goals, objectives, budgets, policies, and procedures to enhance its market share, profitability and return on investment.
- Conduct strategic reviews of performance on a regular basis to determine whether the company is meeting its short-and long-term objectives (increase in profits, increase in market share, return on investment, etc).
- Develop, in coordination with the CEO, an integrated business plan that optimizes market share and profitability of existing or new activities.
- Set departments' high-level goals, objectives and plans and work with them on attaining such goals by closely monitoring their operations.
- Review the operating results of the company & compare them to established objectives and goals, and follow-up to ensure appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.
- Establish and maintain an effective system of communications throughout the company to ensure that the responsibilities and accountabilities are clearly defined and understood.
- Act as a public relations officer for the company and represent the organization with major customers, government entities, the financial community, and the public.
Qualifications:
- MBA with at least 10+ years of executive management experience in land development and investment .
- Ambitious and vibrant with high emotional intelligence.
- Driven to grow the business and progress into a CEO position.
- Strong visionary with proven leadership qualities and an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Political awareness, professional expertise in land development/investment, and strong financial and investment skills.
- Unquestionable integrity, credibility, and character.
