Job Summary We are seeking a Casual– Food Service Worker II (Cashier) to join our team at Burnaby Hospital in Burnaby, B.C. About the Job

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented individual to oversee the collection and receipt of cash and/or meal tickets for items purchased in the cafeteria. The successful candidate will perform a variety of duties within cafeteria operation, including preparing and verifying cash register float, balancing cash receipts, and preparing bank deposit slips.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and verify cash register float
  • Balance cash receipts against cash register printout
  • Prepare bank deposit slips
  • Count, weigh, and/or measure ingredients for assigned food preparation area
  • Prepare beverages and food items such as coffee, tea, and toast
  • Retrieve food items from freezer, fridge, and other storage areas
  • Empty cash from dispensing machines and count and record amounts
  • Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping and mopping floors
  • Perform clerical duties such as answering the phone and filing information
  • Count and replenish food and supply stock according to established quota/levels
  • Report any inoperable, damaged, or unsafe equipment to the Manager
Requirements
  • Grade 10, plus one (1) year's recent related experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Current Food Safe Level 1 certification or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deal with others effectively
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • Ability to organize work
  • Ability to operate related equipment
