Job Summary

The University of British Columbia (UBC) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Alumni Engagement Manager to join our team. As a key member of the Development and Alumni Engagement unit, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategic plans to engage and steward UBC's alumni community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to engage and steward UBC's alumni community, including identifying and building relationships with key alumni leaders.
  • Work closely with faculty members and staff to integrate and promote alumni participation in existing and expanding volunteer opportunities within the Faculty.
  • Participate in developing and implementing a comprehensive plan for identifying, cultivating, engaging, and stewarding high-level student and alumni leaders.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to develop protocols and procedures to collect and maintain accurate alumni profiles and program information in the University's database.
  • Oversee and coordinate a series of high-impact events associated with milestone events and activities, including working closely with Alumni UBC and the Faculty of Applied Science.
  • Work closely with the Senior Director, Development & Alumni Engagement and Senior Director, Alumni UBC to develop strategic plans, in collaboration with faculty and university partners, to leverage alumni and community engagement, knowledge of alumni, interaction with students, alumni networks and strengthen faculty partnerships with identified priority alumni communities.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one's own.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience at a post-secondary education institution, including significant alumni relations and/or advancement experience and/or experience in fundraising.
  • Experience in budget development and control required.
  • People management experience.
  • Proven leadership abilities.
  • Experience in program development, delivery, and management.
  • Experience in strategic planning, implementation, and communications, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
