PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Data Analyst, Fuel (internally called Analyst Fuel & HPH Reconciliation) is accountable for daily buying activities to support Mechanical Operations. They are also responsible for the end to end Purchase to Pay business processes including strategic planning, execution, delivery and payment activities. This position will report into the Procurement Manager and will be supporting the Mechanical Business user purchasing for Railcar and Locomotive.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Leverage data analytic techniques to derive insights from operational data, identifying trends and opportunities for optimization in rail operations and equipment management
  • Develop and pursue improvement and renewal of outdated Equipment Run-Through agreements with the foreign railroads as they pertain to HPH and Fuel EQ
  • Perform data gathering, validation, and process HPH files with all class 1 Rail Roads
  • Reconcile & invoice HPH files
  • Issue regular HPH reporting to key stake holders
  • Perform data gathering and processing Fuel EQ files with all class 1 Rail Roads
  • Reconcile & invoice Fuel EQ files
  • Regularly audit Fuel EQ data of Foreign Rail Roads for accuracy & integrity
  • Cross functional training to EOTD, for employee development and successor planning
  • Develop and maintain enterprise-level solutions focused on automation and data analytics tools regarding HPH and fuel equalization

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in a job-related major field of study
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience with data analysis, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with VBA for the automation of data processes and tasks within Excel
