PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Business Analyst (BA) will join the Business and Data Analytics team. We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Business Analyst (BA) with a specialization in AI & Data Analytics. This role involves a deep understanding of data governance, data lineage, data management, and data observability practices. The ideal candidate will act as a crucial connector between our technical teams and our clients, ensuring that data-driven solutions are aligned with business strategies and adhere to the highest standards of data integrity and compliance.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Data Governance & Management: Champion the practices of data governance and management across all analytics projects, ensuring robust policies, standards, and procedures are in place for the effective management of data
  • Data Lineage & Observability: Oversee the development of data lineage and observability frameworks to ensure that data assets are traceable, transparent, and reliable. Work with technical teams to implement systems that monitor data quality and integrity in real-time
  • Advanced Data Analysis: Utilize advanced analytical techniques to mine data for insights, employing statistical models and AI methodologies. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver high-impact analytics solutions
  • Insight Generation & Reporting: Translate complex analytical results into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders. Develop comprehensive reports and dashboards that effectively communicate findings and recommendations
  • Strategic Data Initiatives: Lead strategic initiatives around data cataloging, classification, and metadata management, enhancing the accessibility and usability of data across the organization
  • Collaboration & Communication: Act as the main liaison between business stakeholders and the technical team, facilitating clear communication and ensuring that data analytics solutions align with business objectives
  • Regulatory Compliance & Security: Ensure all data analytics practices comply with relevant data protection and privacy regulations. Advocate for stringent data security measures across all stages of data handling and processing

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a University Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or an equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of proven expertise in Business analysis
  • 6+ years of working experience with databases and SQL
  • Experience over 3+ years with the ability to analyze, collect, organize, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • An ability to effectively tell a story through data and clearly communicate findings for a non-technical audience
  • Familiarity with data flows and ETL processes
  • 1 to 2 years of leadership experience with an ability to progress deliverables and drive business requirement decisions with various stakeholders is an asset

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
