Executive Chef Job Description

About the Role

As an Executive Chef, you will lead our culinary team to deliver high-quality, nutritious, and diverse cuisine that exceeds resident expectations. You will be responsible for setting innovative menus, overseeing kitchen operations, and pioneering food-related events that foster a sense of community and belonging.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the culinary team with a hands-on approach, ensuring high productivity and optimal utilization of their skills
  • Ensure every dish served is fresh, tasty, and visually appealing, complemented by attentive and warm service
  • Regularly solicit and value feedback from residents to continuously enhance the dining experience
  • Evaluate performance and production quality, implementing necessary adjustments to elevate the standard of service
  • Be actively involved in daily kitchen activities, dedicating at least 50% of your time to hands-on participation in food preparation and operations
  • Regularly assess team performance to ensure culinary objectives are met and quality standards are maintained
  • Prepare and maintain essential records, including invoices, reports, and statistics, in line with company policies and regulatory requirements
Requirements
  • Degree or diploma in culinary arts, complemented by a certification in food safety
  • 3-5 years of experience in retirement living, hospitality, or related sector, with significant time in a leadership role
  • Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate a culinary team, fostering an environment of learning and growth
  • Hands-on experience in managing kitchen budgets, controlling food costs, and efficiently ordering supplies
  • Strong focus on resident satisfaction, understanding that meals are a central part of the residents' daily experience
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations, solve problems quickly, and balance multiple tasks
