Manage a major retail operation, providing leadership and direction, controlling costs and maximizing revenue through the achievement of sales targets, while ensuring excellent customer service and education to the public.
The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis and operates the retail brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.
The LDB is committed to government's goals of making life better for people in B.C., improving services, and ensuring a sustainable province for future generations. The revenue generated by the LDB helps fund essential public services like health care, education, and community programming.
The LDB has been assigned to distribute, wholesale, and sell non-medicinal cannabis, inclusive of a government-owned online channel, with a mandate to support government's key priorities of protecting public health and safety, promoting social responsibility, and eliminating the illicit market.
The Store Manager is responsible for the management of a major retail operation, providing leadership and direction, controlling costs and maximizing revenue through the achievement of sales targets. Responsibilities include providing excellent customer service and education to the public.
The Manager is responsible for developing and implementing operational plans, developing annual store budgets, controlling employment costs, and analyzing reports. The Manager is expected to contribute to establishing and improving the Cannabis Store image through the implementation and maintenance of policies.
The Manager is responsible for the hiring, training, and development of staff, scheduling assignments, participating as required in all store duties, as well as handling labour relations issues for the work unit.
A criminal record check is required.
Successful completion of the Selling it Right Certificate is required.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Manage a team of staff to achieve sales targets and provide excellent customer service
- Develop and implement operational plans, including annual store budgets and employment costs
- Contribute to establishing and improving the Cannabis Store image through policy implementation
- Hire, train, and develop staff, as well as handle labour relations issues
**Requirements:**
- Secondary (high) school diploma or equivalent certificate
- A minimum of two (2) years of recent, related experience leading a team within a customer-facing retail operation
- Must include experience with customer service and the management of assets
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Degree, diploma, or certificate in business or retail management
- Experience working in a government or regulatory environment
- Experience working in a unionized environment
- Experience working in the cannabis industry
- Formal course work in cannabis from an accredited post-secondary institution
