About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Track Engineer to join our Rail and Transit division as a Track Engineering Design Lead. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in track design for large-scale transit projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and lead the design and alignment of track infrastructure for various transit systems using advanced software tools.
  • Lead internal Designers and Engineers in managing track design and resolving technical challenges to meet all requirements and specifications.
  • Prepare calculations, engineering design plans, technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates for presentation to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective design coordination across disciplines and participate in design coordination meetings to address critical issues.
  • Mentor and develop junior-intermediate track staff, providing functional guidance and support to enhance technical and non-technical skills.
  • Review and approve shop drawings and technical documentation, implementing railway systems and procedures to ensure cost-effective, high-quality, and safe project delivery.
  • Contribute to proposal preparation, develop and verify technical scopes, and assist with budget and schedule planning and management.
  • Lead the Project Team to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality rail transportation projects on time, meeting client expectations and objectives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil Engineering typically preferred).
  • Designation as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
  • 8+ years experience with track design engineering for large-scale rail transit systems, including Class I Railways, LRT, or Commuter Rail.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design of rail alignments, special trackwork, junctions, yards, and facilities.
  • Experience in design-build contract delivery is an asset.
  • Detailed understanding of local authorities' codes and design standards.
  • Strong capabilities in AutoCAD Civil3D Subassembly Composer, Dynamo, and Navisworks for BIM interface.
  • Strong capabilities in OpenRail Designer - MicroStation.
  • Demonstrated experience on large-scale interdisciplinary projects with track design leadership responsibilities and interface with civil, utilities, and systems engineering.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English.
  • Organizational and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to work independently with high attention to detail and accuracy in work.
