We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Pediatric Emergency/observation Unit team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our inter-professional care team, you will provide direct patient care to pediatric patients, assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments of pediatric patients, collecting information from various sources and making informed nursing diagnoses.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans, promoting patient-centered care and autonomy.
- Participate in the care and discharge planning process, ensuring effective communication and coordination with the inter-professional care team.
- Coordinate nursing care, prioritize tasks, and delegate responsibilities to support staff, ensuring seamless care delivery.
- Provide rapid pediatric assessments in collaboration with Emergency Department staff to facilitate timely treatment and discharge of pediatric patients.
- Teach patients and families about illness prevention, health restoration, and health maintenance to support self-care and discharge planning.
- Document assessments, nursing diagnoses, interventions, patient responses, and outcomes according to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement and risk management activities, identifying patient care issues and contributing to corrective actions.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
- Two years of recent, related clinical nursing experience in the designated clinical area and completion of post-graduate coursework and/or certification applicable to the designated clinical area.
- Clinical proficiency in pediatric nursing, with the ability to assess and provide care to pediatric patients.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and maintain a high level of productivity in a fast-paced environment.
