Job Title: Registered Nurse, Pediatrics

Fraser Health is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse, Pediatrics to provide high-quality patient care to pediatric patients in a pediatric emergency unit and/or pediatric emergency observation unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments of pediatric patients on admission and at regular intervals to identify risk factors and develop effective care plans.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, caregivers, physicians, and the inter-professional care team to develop, implement, and modify care plans.
  • Provide direct patient care, including conducting nursing interventions and evaluating patient responses to care.
  • Teach patients and families/caregivers about illness prevention, health restoration, and health maintenance to support self-care and discharge planning.
  • Participate in quality improvement and risk management activities to promote safe and effective patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Two (2) years' recent, related clinical nursing experience in the designated clinical area and completion of postgraduate coursework and/or certification applicable to the designated clinical area or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Clinical proficiency in the designated clinical area.
  • Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessment and apply pediatric nursing theory and expertise to provide nursing care to pediatric patients.
  • Ability to recognize acuity changes and respond accordingly.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families/caregivers, and the inter-professional care team.
  • Ability to promote person-centered care and patient advocacy.
