We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Emergency Nurse Specialist to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. About the Role
The Pediatric Emergency Nurse Specialist will provide direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care to pediatric patients in a pediatric emergency unit and/or pediatric emergency observation unit. This role involves conducting comprehensive nursing assessments, making nursing diagnoses, and developing care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough nursing assessments of pediatric patients on admission and at regular intervals to identify potential health risks and develop effective care plans.
- Collaborate with patients, families/caregivers, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care delivery and address any concerns or questions they may have.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans that take into account the unique needs and preferences of each patient, including their medical history, cultural background, and personal values.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families/caregivers to empower them to make informed decisions about their care and manage their condition effectively.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to continuously improve the quality of care provided to pediatric patients and contribute to a culture of excellence within the organization.
Requirements
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Two years' recent, related clinical nursing experience in the designated clinical area and completion of post-graduate coursework and/or certification applicable to the designated clinical area.
- Demonstrated proficiency in initiating Intravenous Therapy and maintenance of Intravenous Therapy.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families/caregivers, and healthcare professionals using verbal, written, and electronic communication means.
- Ability to promote person-centered care that demonstrates empathy for patients and families/caregivers, sensitivity to diverse cultures and preferences, and patient advocacy.

Salary Information
The estimated salary range for this position is $59.52 per hour. Please note that salaries may vary based on location, experience, and qualifications.
