Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Pediatric Emergency/Observation Unit team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our inter-professional care team, you will provide direct patient care to pediatric patients, assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments of pediatric patients, identifying risk factors and developing individualized care plans.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to provide person-centered care, promoting empathy, trust, and respect.
  • Participate in care planning, coordination, and discharge planning, ensuring seamless transitions and effective communication.
  • Provide rapid pediatric assessments, facilitating timely treatment and discharge of pediatric patients.
  • Teach patients and families about illness prevention, health restoration, and health maintenance, promoting self-care and independence.
  • Document assessments, nursing diagnoses, interventions, and patient outcomes, adhering to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • Two years of recent, related clinical nursing experience in pediatric care, with completion of post-graduate coursework and/or certification applicable to the designated clinical area.
  • Clinical proficiency in pediatric nursing, with ability to recognize acuity changes and apply pediatric nursing theory and expertise to provide high-quality care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams and promote person-centered care.
