About the Role

The Corporate Communications team leads Intact Financial Corporation's Internal and External Communications in support of IFC's business objectives and strategic roadmap. This includes:

  • Supporting and amplifying the common elements that bring us together, define our unique culture, and drive outperformance.
  • Enhancing employee engagement across IFC – emphasizing what makes us a winning team.
  • Protecting and promoting the IFC brand and reputation globally.
  • Elevating IFC's role in helping to build resilient communities where we do business.
  • Amplifying IFC's knowledge, expertise, and thought leadership in our key markets.

Within the Corporate Communications team, the Executive Communications team is responsible for developing and executing communication plans that elevate the profile of C-suite executives and share the key elements of Intact's strategy. This includes the management of various executive engagements, internal and external events, employee blogs, and social media accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes communications strategies that elevate the profile of C-suite executives and share the key elements of Intact's strategy.
  • Demonstrates strategic thinking by ensuring alignment of messaging and approach with Intact's brands and subsidiaries.
  • Works with key communication colleagues across the business to assess communication opportunities for executives.
  • Establishes productive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to instill collaboration, share news, and create simple, engaging, and meaningful messages to support Intact's storytelling efforts.
  • Tactics should consider multimedia options, events, and other innovative and creative ways to tell stories and achieve objectives.

Content Development

  • Ensures executive communications are effective, consistent in tone and style.
  • Shows strong project management skills, including workback schedules, content feedback and approvals, coordination of various task owners, and reporting and measurement.
  • Based on approved key messages, creates, reviews, edits, and adapts executive communications pieces (announcements, briefing notes, speeches, video scripts, social media posts, etc.) to reach various audiences in a meaningful way.
  • Based on clear KPIs and other metrics, measures success for all projects and provides recommendations based on findings and learnings.

Corporate Affairs & Communications Team Support

  • Actively supports and collaborates with other Executive Communications team members, including with special projects to meet broader team objectives and Intact executive needs.
  • Actively participates in all meetings, and quarterly and monthly plan development.
  • Represents Corporate Affairs and Communications and brings support to special projects and committees, as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications/mass media/editing, or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • At least 7 years of experience.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Ability to create alignment among multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to multitask and manage multiple projects and expectations simultaneously.
  • Highly organized and able to manage workflow efficiently with autonomy and flexibility and without continuous supervision.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.
  • Regular travel throughout the year within Canada to support events on-site. Limited travel internationally is required.
  • Fluency with certain graphic or video production/editing tools (such as Photoshop or Canvas) an asset.
  • No Canadian work experience required; must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required.
