Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Executive Officer to lead our organization, Wawatay Native Communications Society, in its mission to provide media capabilities and content that address the unique needs of the Nishnawbe people.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a clear vision and strategy for the organization, ensuring alignment with our mission and goals.
  2. Business Development: Identify and pursue business opportunities that support our mission and objectives, building strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Nishnawbe Aski Nation, government agencies, and the business community.
  3. Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization, ensuring effective coordination and implementation of policies and procedures.
  4. Financial Management: Develop and manage budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency.
  5. Human Resources: Lead and manage a high-performance team, building a culture of excellence and accountability.
  6. Community Engagement: Foster strong relationships with our communities, promoting our services and advocating for the needs of the Nishnawbe people.
Requirements
  1. Leadership Experience: Proven track record of leadership in a senior management role, with experience in media, communications, and business development.
  2. Business Acumen: Strong understanding of business operations, asset management, marketing, finance, and business processes related to economic and business development activities.
  3. Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with external stakeholders.
  4. Cultural Competence: Knowledge and experience working with First Nations communities, with the ability to communicate in English and one of the languages of the Nishnawbe Aski Nation communities.
