Location: 349 Terry Fox Drive, Ottawa, Ontario. Hybrid work, some in office, some at home.
Duration: 12 or 16 months are possible
About this opportunity
We are seeking a motivated Internal Communications Intern to join our team. The Internal Communications Intern will be responsible for supporting and helping to implement effective communication strategies to ensure that our organization's messages are effectively conveyed to employees at the Ottawa site. The ideal candidate will have strong writing and editing skills, as well as the ability to create engaging content for various internal communication channels. Additionally, the Internal Communications Intern will collaborate with the Ottawa Site Leadership Team to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with organizational goals.
What you will do
· Support and maintain an internal news flow for Ottawa site through newsletter and SharePoint page
· Support site events, including all-employee/leader meetings, executive/government site visits, and customer visits
· Assist in developing emails and calendar invites for Ottawa site events/programs
· Evaluate and propose new ways of internal communication, such as use of Teams and Viva Engage channels
· Develop compelling content for various internal communication channels, including newsletters, intranet, emails, and other digital platforms
· Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in internal communications to help improve our strategies
You will bring
· Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
· Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across different departments and levels of the organization
· Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
· Knowledge of best practices in internal communications and employee engagement
· Familiarity with graphic design and multimedia content creation tools is considered an asset
