About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented University student to join our Radio Systems Architecture Team as an RF Systems Engineering Co-Op. This 12-month Co-Op will provide the successful candidate with a well-rounded introduction to the RF electronic component design environment and a chance to work on complex multichip, multi-technology RFIC-based wireless module solutions for Wi-Fi applications.

Responsibilities

  • Automation of testing of RFICs and multichip modules
  • Perform RF tests, RF evaluations, and summarize the results for presentation to our RF Systems and RF Design engineers
  • Development and characterization of WLAN waveforms
  • Simulating EVM and backfitting simulation results to measured data for various PAs and FEMs
  • Evaluating the performance of WLAN RF front end modules, including measuring amplitude distortion, phase distortion, out-of-band emissions, PA distortion as characterized by Error Vector Magnitude (EVM), Low noise amplifier (LNA) noise figure, and LNA linearity

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an EE or Engineering Physics Bachelor or Master's degree program, and must be returning to school after the completion of this Co-Op
  • Self-starter with hands-on experience and comfortable scripting in MATLAB
  • Background in RF/microwave circuits, including knowledge of fundamental RF parameters, RF testing, and RF test equipment
  • Strong proficiency in MATLAB, Excel, Power Point, and data organization
  • Knowledge in RF parameters (insertion loss, return loss, harmonics, IMD, IIP2/3, VSWR, NF, etc.) is an asset
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in using RF equipment such as oscilloscope, VNA, VSA, spectrum analyzer, RF sources
  • RFIC design and simulation experience will be a plus
  • Working familiarity with C/C++ or Python will be an asset but is not mandatory

What We Offer

The typical pay range for an intern is currently CAD $44.00 per hour. Starting base pay will depend on level of education and the ultimate job duties and requirements.
