As a Co-op Intern in our Assurance & Accounting division, you will be part of a dedicated team of professionals committed to addressing the unique financial needs of our clients in a fast-paced business landscape. Your role will involve delivering precise and customized financial insights that empower clients to make confident decisions.

This position is designed for a Co-op term.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhance your technical expertise in areas such as compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and taxation.
- Gain knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and/or Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).
- Organize files for new clients and newly established businesses, manage multiple accounts concurrently, and conduct inventory assessments.
- Execute accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital asset transactions, and payroll procedures with clients professionally.
- Summarize financial positions by gathering data and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other relevant reports.
- Evaluate the adequacy of audit evidence for expenses, revenues, capital asset additions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and prepaid expenses.
- Investigate and rectify discrepancies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Establish account charts and prepare entries for posting.
- Draft correspondence, technical reports, client summaries, and presentations that highlight engagement findings.
- Collaborate with the client engagement team and build strong relationships with client contacts.
- Contribute innovative ideas and approaches to enhance work processes while effectively utilizing MNP's internal systems.
- Maintain the flexibility to travel as required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in commerce or business administration, preferably with a focus on accounting or finance.
- Working towards the prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
- Prior experience in an accounting-related office setting is an asset.
- Experience in customer service or client relations is beneficial.
- Familiarity with accounting and tax software is advantageous.
