We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Labour Relations Business Partner to join our team. In this role, you will serve as a strategic partner to our business units, leveraging the support of our Labour Relations leader to provide expert guidance on a wide range of Human Resources and Labour Relations issues. Your role will be instrumental in influencing change, delivering solutions, and supporting operational decisions through strategic HR planning.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert HR consulting, advice, and planning services to Managers and Directors across the organization.
  • Act as a trusted business partner within your assigned client portfolio, offering employee and labour relations advice to support operational planning and budgeting.
  • Lead and coordinate people management processes as a key member of the client management team, sharing responsibility for achieving goals and meeting delivery targets.
  • Offer subject matter expertise on workplace violence, discrimination, harassment, and return-to-work/modified work issues in collaboration with HR partners (e.g., occupational health and safety).
  • Manage complex employee grievance processes, sensitive investigations, and dispute resolutions.
  • Represent the organization in mediations and partner with legal counsel on arbitration matters.
  • Develop detailed investigation reports with recommendations for employee discipline and terminations.
  • Analyze HR data to identify trends (e.g., attendance, grievance types) and provide actionable recommendations to management.
  • Collaborate with HR team members to develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR Management or Labour/Industrial Relations.
  • Minimum of 5 years of HR experience in a fast-paced, unionized environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of Ontario Employment Standards Act, Workplace Safety & Insurance Act, Human Rights Code, Labour Relations Act, Pay Equity Act, and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Proven expertise in employment law, grievance handling, recruitment, accommodation/modified work placements, conflict resolution, and terminations.
