The Senior Project Manager will lead EPCM projects across various clients and sectors. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing the full project lifecycle from basic design to commissioning & turn-over, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams to deliver successful projects within a regulated environment.


Responsibilities


Project Definition:

▪ Develop project battery limits, charters, and defined outcomes.

▪ Contribute to and review the project proposal and plan to determine timeframe, procedures for accomplishing the project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project.

▪ Lead development of a detailed project executions plans and ensure these plans respect all health, safety and environmental requirements.

▪ Identify opportunities and develop proposals to expand scope on existing projects. Negotiate changes to project scope or specification with the customer. Follow Change Management process to identify and approve modifications to scope, cost, schedule, and quality.


Project Resourcing:

▪ Work with the Project Sponsor to assemble a project team comprised of internal and external resources to achieve project outcomes efficiently.

▪ Coordinate project team members and sub-contractors, as well as the client to ensure cost effective, efficient, safe, and timely completion of projects to meet and/or exceed client expectations.

▪ Mentor and train junior project managers and project services support staff.


Project Management:

▪ Manage all aspects of project scope including planning, engineering, procurement/contracting, construction, commissioning, and handover under EPCM or OIT delivery models.

▪ Responsible for delivery of agreed upon schedule and financial performance, proactively intervening to avoid slippage.

▪ Seek opportunities to optimize project performance, including budget, schedule, and quality.

▪ Manage relationships with external suppliers and sub-contractors to resolve any cost, schedule, and quality issues as they arise.


Health, Safety, & Risk:

▪ Provide HSSE leadership, ensure a program of initiatives and auditing schedule are established and that HSSE and quality management issues are proactively addressed.

▪ Coordinate safety and constructability reviews and engineering progression design review meetings.

▪ Lead ongoing focus on management of project risks and key performance indicators through proactive risk identification and mitigation strategy development.


Communication & Reporting:

▪ Communicate with all members of the project team professionally and in a timely fashion.

▪ Maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (i.e. external clients, local governments, the public, and First Nations) throughout the project lifecycle.

▪ Ensure project communications are formalized as required, including running meetings, distributing minutes, formal letters to client, contractors or others, formal progress reports as required by the project execution plans.

▪ Regularly report project progress to senior management and/or the client.


Project Controls:

▪ In concert with supporting staff, or independently, produce cost estimates and schedules.

▪ Monitor/track schedule and budget performance in a disciplined basis.

▪ Set up and maintain project control systems (utilizing inhouse systems).


Procurement & Logistics:

▪ Manage contract and procurement processes (RFQs, RFPs, etc.) for direct contracting and or acting as agent for our clients.

▪ Manage logistics for the site.


Compensation


Hourly compensation based on hours of work performed with annual discretionary bonus and health benefits.

Travel costs to/from a project site or client office are reimbursed.


Work Schedule & Location


Office work is typically 8-10 hours per day and on-site work is maximum 12 hours per day.

On-site rotational work is likely and based on project phase.

Travel time to/from a project site are paid from point of hire to a maximum of 8 hours per travel day.

Time off will be accommodated with appropriate advanced notice to Project Sponsor.

Vacation starts at two weeks per year and is included in hourly compensation. Additional un-paid time off is available based on project workload.

Ideally, the candidate is located in Vancouver, BC. Relocation assistance to Vancouver may be available. Hybrid arrangements may be acceptable for the right candidate.


Qualifications/Experience/Education Requirements


Minimum of 10 years of pertinent engineering or operations experience in engineering or construction, including at least 5 years of increasing responsibility as a project manager.

Proven project management experience and experienced in stakeholder management, risk and change management processes, various contract models and sound knowledge of project scheduling, monitoring, and forecasting techniques.

Engineering Degree or technical diploma from a recognized university

Professional Engineering Designation(s) are an asset.

Project Management Professional (PMP) Certificate is an asset.

Valid driver's license and clean driving abstract.

Available to travel internationally.

Proficiency in Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams, Project.

Proficiency in Primavera P6, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, other mining software is an asset.
