As the Human Resources Generalist, you will report directly to the Human Resources Manager and will be primarily responsible for supporting various human resources functions with a focus on recruitment, onboarding, and retention of employees. Travel for recruitment may be required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement talent strategies, maintain a talent pipeline, promote employer branding, plan workforce needs, network with candidates, and use data to enhance recruitment.
  • Contribute to essential recruitment tasks, including sourcing talent, maintaining job descriptions, managing job postings on internal/external job boards, screening candidates, offer presentations, and onboarding new hires.
  • Update employee information in our HRIS (Dayforce) and benefit portals.
  • Process and review human resources information for new hires, terminations, transfers, position, and wage changes.
  • Maintain and update all personnel files.
  • Investigate employee concerns, identify trends, and provide recommendations.
  • Occasionally travel to other branches for recruitment efforts, onsite HR support, and to understand branch-specific HR needs.
  • Conduct evaluations of existing procedures, provide recommendations, and implement revised methods to enhance HR administration.
  • Develop, revise, and implement HR policies, procedures, job descriptions, and internal programs.
  • Coordinate and plan employee training, including overseeing the training portal.
  • Process Canadian job grants for employees, including preparing and submitting applications, tracking application status, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
  • Assist with foreign workers applications/visa extensions and preparation of required employer documents.
  • Manage disability claims from the start of the employee’s leave to their return to work.
  • Liaise with Green Shield case managers to ensure timely responses and updates on employees’ claim statuses and potential return to work.
  • Stay informed about changes in employment law and regulations, advising management on necessary compliance and policy changes.
  • Generate ad hoc reports and statistics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of related experience.
  • CPHR certification or membership in CPHR.
  • Previous experience with Ceridian Dayforce is considered an asset.
  • Must be professional with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills that encourage collaboration, cooperation, and teamwork.
  • Unwavering commitment to ethical conduct and confidentiality, exercising good judgment and discretion in handling sensitive information and matters.
  • Flexibility in dealing with multiple time-sensitive issues and rapidly changing priorities while maintaining focus and effectiveness.
  • Highly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong interpersonal interactions.
  • Proficient in gathering data from various sources, analyzing it, preparing reports, and providing recommendations.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, weighing risks and impacts to determine appropriate solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and self-reliantly with minimal supervision.
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to excel both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism is of utmost importance.
