Human Resources Manager
Edmonton, AB, Canada
Req #13446

ETHIC – Excellence, Teamwork, Hospitality, Integrity, and Compassion – steadfastly characterizes our mission to continually enrich the daily lives of residents. We practice these principles with every task and interaction, from personal caregiver assistance to mowing the grass. At Touchmark, we say: I AM AN ALLY • I AM A FRIEND • I AM A GIVER

Do you have a passion for building a positive culture in your workplace? Are you an experienced HR Manager who thrives on bringing in talent at every position, knowing you were instrumental in building a great team? If so, we would like to talk to you about joining our team as the Human Resources Manager

As the Human Resources Manager, you will enrich lives every day by bringing Touchmark’s values to life for each team member; your influence will help to make this community a great place to live, work, and visit – whether that be through finding qualified, motivated candidates to join our team or providing counsel to employees and managers. By promoting a positive and productive workplace, you will help to ensure that each team member is serving as a positive presence in the lives of residents and their family members.

The ideal candidate will:

  1. Be committed to Touchmark’s values (hospitality, compassion, excellence, teamwork, and integrity), and have a desire to model these values and encourage others to be allies, friends, and givers.
  2. Have a working knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards and other employment laws.
  3. Experience working in an HR role in a unionized workplace and have experience with Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) and union-management, preferably working with AUPE.
  4. Experience with Dayforce is not required but preferred.
  5. Have a working knowledge of Alberta payroll laws and regulations.
  6. Possess a bachelor’s degree in human resources management or other related fields.
  7. Have at least three years experience in the role of a human resource, with duties that included high-volume staffing and recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and worker’s compensation administration in a return-to-work environment.
  8. Understand the importance of maintaining a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
  9. Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and basic office equipment.
  10. Be able to maintain patient and tactful composure when dealing with residents, family members, staff members, and visitors.

Duties for this position will include, but are not limited to:

  1. Managing the full-cycle recruitment process for all open positions.
  2. Coordinating and conducting a thorough orientation for new team members.
  3. Tracking all benefits and employment status changes.
  4. Conducting management training.
  5. Managing WCB and employment insurance claims.
  6. Active, ongoing recruitment of employees through job boards, social media, and professional networking to fill open positions.

Benefits: Touchmark is dedicated to providing the best for our residents, and it all begins with providing the best for our employees. That’s why we offer a competitive compensation and benefits package to our team members who work 35+ hours per week, which includes:

  1. Paid sick leave.
  2. Health, Dental, Long-Term Disability, and Life insurance for employees and eligible dependents.
  3. Education assistance.
  4. Retirement plan.
  5. Employee Resource Program.
