Senior Financial Planning Analyst

We are hiring on behalf of our client, a leading real estate investment trust, for a dedicated and enthusiastic Senior Financial Analyst to join their team at their Head Office in Toronto, Ontario. Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Statements Preparation: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • MD&A Drafting: Draft Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A).
  • Consolidated Results and Legal Entity Accounting: Oversee consolidated results and legal entity level accounting, including intercompany activities.
  • Complex Transactions and New Standards: Perform accounting for complex transactions and implement new accounting standards.
  • Quarter-End Working Papers: Prepare quarter-end working papers and collaborate with external auditors.
  • Financial Results Analysis: Conduct detailed analysis of financial results, identify trends, variances, and financial risks or opportunities, and explain differences between actual and budget.
  • Data Coordination: Coordinate with various departments to gather necessary data and information for financial reporting.
  • Compliance Assurance: Ensure compliance of financial reports with internal policies and external regulations and standards.
  • Financial Insights Communication: Communicate financial insights and recommendations to management for informed decision-making.
  • Corporate Accountant Supervision: Supervise the Corporate Accountant.
  • Tax Filings Assistance: Assist with tax filings and liaise with external experts on requirements.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.



Requirements:

We are seeking candidates who are analytical, with strong written and verbal communication skills. Ideal candidates will have:

  • 5+ years of experience in financial reporting, audit, and/or accounting.
  • CPA designation.
  • University degree.
  • Real estate experience is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Yardi, Excel
  • Deep understanding of IFRS accounting standards.
  • Strong analytical skills and financial knowledge, with the ability to grasp business complexities.
  • Ability to handle deadlines with tight timelines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively interacting with various levels of staff, including senior management and external stakeholders.
