Your opportunity:


Reporting to the Dean of Students, the incumbent will innovate, plan, execute and evaluate co-curricular programs (such as orientation planning and transitional workshops) with a focus on access and diversity for the Woodsworth College's student community.

The incumbent will also provide direct supports to international students and students in non-traditional pathways, such as Diploma to Degree, Academic Bridging (both full and part time), Morneau McCain Scholarship students, as well as developing new initiatives which allow prospective students to see themselves at Woodsworth College and the University of Toronto.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and implementing components of curricular and/or cocurricular programs and activities to support all Woodsworth students.
  • Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives
  • Conducting needs assessments and research to recommend, develop, promote and facilitate experiential learning opportunities/workshops for Woodsworth students and potential students, in particular underrepresented groups on campus.
  • Keeping wellinformed on theories related to equity, diversity and inclusion; integrating these into day to day work, as well as all projects and initiatives.
  • Advising students on cocurricular, academic and personal matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual's background
  • Providing basic support and general referrals to individuals in distress
  • Training and coaching student life staff, student leaders and student volunteers.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferably Bachelor of Education) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four years of recent and related experience with academic program coordination at a university setting with a minimum of two years of experience in building partnerships and developing programs for domestic and international students at the postsecondary level.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with high school students and counselling them in career choices.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, organizing, implementing, facilitating, and evaluating specialty programming designed to support diverse communities and understanding of student issues at the postsecondary level.
  • Experience in conducting needs analysis, researching, and developing programs that enhance student experience.
  • Proven ability in student advising and coaching.
  • Experience managing difficult conversations and dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Strong awareness of and sensitivity to equity, diversity and inclusion principles.
  • Strong selfmotivation, with the demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team; ability to be innovative, entrepreneurship spirit and problem solver
  • Demonstrated advanced computer literacy skills including Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Adobe Pro, Drupal, SharePoint Online, database management and website software.
  • Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills to deal with a large volume of correspondence with students.
  • Demonstrate strong service orientation in dealing with a wide range of people; must have sound judgement, tact, problemsolving skills, and an ability to handle confidential information and maintain confidentiality.
