Your opportunity:


Working under the direction of the Accessibility Services Accessible and Inclusive Learning Strategies Team Lead, the Program and Transition Coordinator develops and coordinates transition and educational programs for students with disabilities.

This programming assists students in making the transition to university, and navigate the various transition points while at university (e.g., movingfrom virtual to in-person learning).

Further, this programming also assists students learn how to negotiate the accommodations process and use the available services.

The incumbent also creates spaces where students may interact informally together in environments where the impact of their disabilities are understood and their strengths are appreciated i.e.

Students on the Autism Spectrum (SASA); drop in; social events.

The incumbent also recruits, trains and supports a team of peer mentors and peer educators who assist in supporting students and delivering social and educational programming.


The Program and Transition Coordinator creates programs and workshops using: a strong equity framework and analysis of the barriers for students with disabilities face.

The incumbent liaises with community groups, on campus groups which utilize critical perspectives on disability within their work.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing components of programs and initiatives that advance program objectives
  • Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives
  • Conducting detailed analysis on program efficiency and student learning outcomes to inform program planning activities
  • Promoting experiential learning opportunities
  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars. Developing content for instructional workshops
  • Advising students on cocurricular, academic and personal matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual's background
  • Screening and making referrals to academic advising and learning skills programs and other resources or services
  • Developing strategies that maximize outreach to students

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum four years experience in working with students in a postsecondary environment from a student development perspective is required.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a broad range of students withdisabilities developing social/educational programming using experiential learning methodologies and in recruiting, training and supporting student leaders.
  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills to work with a diverse student population as well as faculty and staff across the university.
