DUTIES:

To provide assistance to the Behaviour Intervention Resource Teachers, school-based staff, students and parents in implementing
successful learning strategies for students with behavioural difficulties. Performs other related duties as assigned or as required.

Please note:
There is potential for exposure to violence working in a school setting, especially working closely with students
defined above. Therefore, retraining in NVCI will be required every three years.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post secondary training with course work in areas of behaviour management, child development, counselling, or social work;
  • Educational Assistant Certificate or related diploma or degree preferred;

- activities assigned indoors and out;
  • Experience in and the ability to safely restrain a student for extended periods of time;
  • Training in NVCI, WEVAS and Restitution;
  • Training in CPR and First Aid;
  • Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing with all levels of staff, students, and the public;
  • Ability to be reliable, a selfstarter and to work well with mínimal supervision;
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule including nonstandard hours;
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information;
  • Required to have a valid Manitoba Driver's License and daily access to a vehicle;
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable to the Division.
