Reporting to the Administrator, the Dietary Services Manager position is a critical role is a critical role with overall accountability for the management and leadership of all operational activities within the dietary department.
As part of our team, your role as a Dietary Services Manager contributes to our resident experiences in the following ways:
- Planning, coordinating, directing and monitoring effectiveness of all operational activities within the dietary department, ensuring those activities are aligned to the home's strategic plan, mission and values.
- Overseeing recruitment, employee and labour relations, payroll and benefits, orientation, occupational and nonoccupational injury/illness, performance management, training, education and other people related functions within the dietary department.
- Ensures effective and efficient procurement and supply control procedures within the dietary department.
- Responds promptly to address dietary concerns of residents and family members, mediates appropriate responses to those concerns and implements action plans.
- Managing and monitoring the dietary budget, takes appropriate action where variances are identified to bring expenditures in line within the dietary budget.
- Creating menus, monitoring daily food preparation and reviewing of menus to ensure individual dietary needs of residents are met.
- Maintains an organized system of records management for the dietary department.
- Ensures compliance with all relevant legislation including but not limited to: Ministry Acts, regulations, policies and procedures, directives, and collective agreements.
- Works in accordance with the organization's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Food Service Supervision/Nutrition Management Program.
- Must have a minimum of two (2) years working experience in a managerial or supervisor capacity in a healthcare setting, preferably longterm care.
- Membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management.
- Must have demonstrated supervisory and leadership abilities (e.g., people management, finance, labour relations and departmental coordination).
- Must posses excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Sound knowledge of therapeutic diets and current nutritional standards relating to the geriatric population.
- Strong relationship building abilities and highly proficient planning and organizing skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computerized documentation systems.
- All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector check.
- Have a passion to promote personcentered care and work with the senior population.
