The University Advancement division plays a leading role in strengthening awareness of and support for the University's mission and goals by leading alumni relations and fundraising efforts across campus and beyond.

All departments within the Division build enduring alumni and public trust through understanding and support for Western University in a coordinated campus-wide effort that results in the engagement and funding needed to make an impact.

There are 3 departments within the Division - Departments of Development, Alumni Relations and Advancement Operations.
In the Faculty of Health Sciences, we believe everyone deserves a healthy life.

We are a large, diverse, and comprehensive Faculty, comprised of six Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Communication Sciences and Disorders), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, and four Research Centres.

The Faculty has more than 3,700 undergraduate students, more than 1,000 graduate students and over 33,000 alumni.

Responsibilities:


The Alumni Engagement Coordinator provides a variety of administrative, logístical, event, project and data maintenance and analysis to support alumni activities within the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Working in collaboration with the Director of Development, Health Sciences, academic leaders in the faculty, and colleagues across University Advancement, the Alumni Engagement Coordinator will conceptualize, develop, implement and manage effective and innovative alumni engagement strategies supporting the goals of the unit.

The role will provide administrative and operational support, including researching information to support priorities, meetings and projects, coordinating travel arrangements, and assisting with the implementation of select recognition and stewardship programs for faculty donors.

The activities of the Alumni Engagement Coordinator must align with the Faculty of Health Sciences and the University's academic, alumni and community engagement objectives.


Qualifications:

Education:

  • 3year community college diploma in Business Administration, Fundraising Management, Event Management or other related field
  • Undergraduate degree

Experience:

  • 5 years' administrative and customer service experience, providing support to a number of people
  • Experience in corporate and/or special events planning
  • Experience in a fundraising environment preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Exceptional organizational skills; ability to coordinate multiple tasks independently while maintaining accuracy, meeting deadlines and ensuring all details are handled while dealing with multiple interruptions and last minute revisions and updates
  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to assist, coordinate, and execute eventspecific tasks and responsibilities within a team environment
  • Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively in a team environment with academic and administrative staff, alumni, students and volunteers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the confidence dealing with all levels of an organization
  • Strong customer service skills to handle and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner
  • Ability to establish and build healthy working relations and partnerships with clients, and peers
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and ability to prioritize work
  • Proven ability and natural inclination to interact with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office and database management required; expertise with web page development and maintenance, InDesign, Photoshop, Visio, Convio and Adobe products, and digital media platforms preferred
  • Excellent proofreading and editing skills
  • Knowledgeable about Western administrative structure, policies and procedures preferred
