Responsibilities:


The Community Engagement and Outreach Coordinator works collaboratively with the SASAH Director, SASAH staff, faculty, students, as well as other university partners, city departments, community organizations and participants to develop and coordinate curricula-focused programs and engagement initiatives, both on and off campus, with the goal of supporting the development and implementation of collaborative projects that create positive social and cultural impacts.

This role develops and facilitates a suite of academic and civically connected public and pedagogical programs, including courses, peer groups, workshops, networking events, conferences, speakers, and tours, igniting students' curiosity, imagination, and public engagement through critical thinking, dialogue, and hands-on learning and attracting off-campus stakeholders to participate in SASAH activities.


The role acts as a first point of contact for all internal and external inquiries related to the programs, coordinates the evaluation of programs, and supports the day-to-day administrative, human resources, financial and logístical functions of the various programs.

The Coordinator participates in the development of marketing materials, identifies and acts on opportunities to increase awareness of programs and seeks out sponsorship for programming.

The Community Engagement and Outreach Coordinator is a member of a team that values collaboration, inclusivity, and empowerment with the role lending valuable perspective and support the planning of SASAH's recruitment strategy and events, activating existing programs with accompanying workshops, and contributing to public outreach and development initiatives.


Qualifications:

Education:

  • Master of Arts Degree in Arts Education, History, or related discipline
  • PhD preferred

Experience:

  • 3 years of experience developing public programming and designing programs to serve multiple audiences in University and other public settings
  • Experience developing and maintaining fiscal reports, delivering programming and conducting internship evaluations
  • Experience developing relationships and working with community partners, and supervising volunteers and interns with the ability to work well with adults and youth
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and writing public, private and institutional grant proposals
  • Experience providing education and/or managing public programs preferred
  • Previous experience working with an undergraduate student population in a postsecondary educational setting preferred
  • Previous teaching experience in a postsecondary setting would be an asset

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of courses, programs, and policies related to SASAH would be an asset
  • Passionate about the potential for scholarly learning to foster communities and in the transformative power of learning, history, collaboration, culture and art
  • A strong network of professional local contacts would be an asset
  • Knowledge of, and interest in, historical and current critical issues in contemporary arts and humanities disciplines
  • Knowledge of, and ability to, manage social media platforms, communication and engagement strategies for student populations
  • Knowledge of financial principles and budgeting with the ability to design budgets and provide financial administration of programs
