First Credit Union is looking for a team-oriented individual to assist our members in achieving their financial goals as a permanent, casual Financial Service Representative. The successful candidate must commit to the service standards of First Credit Union and possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. With a background in financial services, a desire for continuous learning, and the ability to foster business development, they’ll also have the ability to multi-task, have excellent organizational skills and maintain a high level of professionalism.

This casual position supports coverage for several Comox Valley area branches, including our Courtenay, Cumberland, Bowser, and Union Bay Branches.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Providing an exceptional member experience by proactively engaging with members to understand and meet their immediate day-to-day banking needs by identifying the products and services that will benefit them.
  • Completing financial transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, bill payments and/or other account transactions accurately and efficiently
  • Transforming the member experience by educating them on our mobile tools and resources.
  • Assisting and backing up other team members and completing other duties as assigned.

Required Experience, Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:

  • High School Diploma (preference will be given for post-secondary education).
  • 1-3 years experience in the financial, retail, or hospitality industry.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a service-oriented focus.
  • Knowledge of deposit and lending products and services is preferred.
  • Successful relationship-building skills.
  • A positive attitude towards teamwork and cooperation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A proven ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with or without a calculator.
  • Initiative, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are essential attributes.
