The Environmental Permitting and Management team comprises close to 100 employees at all levels involved in keystone projects throughout their lifecycle: from their early assessment of key constraints to strategic development of regulatory approvals processes to compliance management through construction and operations. Our team works collaboratively within projects to gain social acceptance and manage our clients' commitments to the environment and sustainable development.
AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Social Scientist to support a wide variety of infrastructure (e.g., transit, road/highway, power, etc.) and other environmental assessment projects. Lead the assessment of project impacts on the socio-economic/human environment for provincial and federal impact assessments, including consideration of economy, community services and infrastructure, land use, and social determinants of health.
Lead baseline socio-economic/health studies, including desktop research, surveys, interviews, etc.
Effectively delegate tasks and activities to intermediate and junior staff and providing technical and supervisory guidance on assigned tasks.
Independently coordinate and manage external subcontractors.
Support the development and implementation of consultation and engagement programs.
Act as a project manager responsible for the development and management of scope, budget, schedule, and quality.

Bachelor’s degree in social sciences (Anthropology, Economics, Political Science, Regional Planning, Health or Social Sciences, Geography, etc.).
~Experience in consulting is considered an asset.
~ Familiarity with environmental assessment processes and other environmental legislation (federal, provincial, and territorial, in particular, the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act is an asset).
~ Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
~ Must possess a valid driver’s license.
